Speaker Bios:Bob PageBob Page is an internationally known speaker, instructor, author and paramedic. He has presented seminars across the United States and in Canada. He is recognized for his energetic, humorous and motivational style. Bob takes ordinarily dry and hard to teach topics and transforms them into a fun, learning experience. Bob has been an instructor for over 27 years teaching a variety of adult education courses from customer service to advanced medical care. He is a nationally registered paramedic and a critical care paramedic. He has been involved in EMS since 1978 when he became a CPR instructor.
Bob is the Director of Emergency Care Education at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri. He is the lead instructor for the paramedic program and has taught at all levels of EMS and nursing. He has earned a faculty appointment at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and also is a guest instructor at Southwest University's School of Nursing. Mr. Page has written several articles for JEMS (Journal of Emergency Medical Services).
Stephen R. WirthStephen R. Wirth, Esquire is a founding partner in the national EMS law firm of Page, Wolfberg & Wirth, LLC. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Steve had a distinguished two-decade career in public safety as a career and volunteer EMT and paramedic, EMS instructor, EMS administrator, firefighter, and fire department officer. He has years of hands-on business experience as a key manager for a large ambulance service. Currently Steve serves as one of three members of the panel of commissioners for the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS), the national accrediting body for the ambulance industry. Steve is a cum laude graduate of Duquesne University School of Law, where he was a member of the national trial and appellate court competition teams. He also holds a Masters Degree in Health Services Administration from Gannon University in Erie. Steve is a frequent speaker at regional, state and national conferences across the country on a wide variety of subjects dealing with medical transportation law. He is an assistant professor at George Washington University and the University of Pittsburgh where he teaches in the EMS degree programs. Steve has also authored or coauthored many articles on a variety of EMS management topics. Steve continues in public service as an active firefighter/EMT and engineer for the Hampden Township Volunteer Fire Company in Mechanicsburg, PA.
Steve BerrySteve Berry, BA, NREMT-P; a former teacher and interpreter for the hearing impaired, Steve has published 10 EMS related cartoon books since his escapades as a paramedic/EMS instructor began 20 years ago. Steve writes a monthly humor column for JEMS Magazine along with cartoon illustrations for both JEMS, Fire Rescue Magazine, and Wildland Firefighter Magazine. A part-time paramedic with the AMR of Colorado Springs, Steve seeks world peace along with frequent flyer mileage.
Kathy ChesneyKathy Chesney, MS, NREMT-P is a Paramedic/Firefighter with the Jones County Ambulance and Murdo Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. She has been in EMS for 14 years and in public education for 20 years. Kathy has been the District V Training Officer for four years.
Brad RudenBrad Ruden, EMT-B has been an EMT-B with the Bruce Fire & Rescue squad since 2001 and a volunteer fireman since 1997. He is a state certified EMS instructor and currently serves as EMS Training Officer for the local squad and District I. Brad has a M.S. degree in Agronomy and is completing a PhD in Plant Pathology at South Dakota State University. He currently manages the Plant Diagnostic Clinic at SDSU. Brad has been a Cooperative Extension Service plant science specialist for 12 years and provides extensive training on pest management, pesticide use, proper pesticide application, and sprayer calibration for both ground and aerial pesticide applicators in South Dakota and the surrounding region.
Joe DolezarJoe Dolezal is originally from Vancouver Washington with a moved to South Dakota in 1997. He have been in EMS for 10 years. Joe spent 2 years in Lake Andes as a Volunteer, after that moving to Chamberlain where he was the Operations Manger for the Missouri Valley ambulance. In 2001Joe moved to Mitchell and is currently a Firefighter/Paramedic For the Mitchell Fire Department. In addition to the standard EMS certifications, he is also a Critical Care Paramedic. Joe has been teaching EMS for the past 7 years, classes range from CPR to Site coordinator for McKennans Paramedic Program. On a personal note Joe is an avid hunter and golf's whenever he can. Joe is single, with his family consisting of his parents and brother.
Keith A. ShariskyKeith A Sharisky - FF/Paramedic with Aberdeen Fire and Rescue for the past 9 years. He began as a volunteer EMT in Akron Colorado for Washington County Ambulance Service. Keith has worked in Chamberlain for Mid Dakota Hospital, Per Diem with Crow Creek Ambulance in Fort Thompson, Care Flight Paramedic with Avera St. Lukes and a very short stint with Wyoming Medical Center in Casper Wyoming.
Chad SkilesChad Skiles, EMT-I, I/C is in his 23rd year working in public safety. His primary background is in emergency medical services in which he worked in the field, both as a paid and volunteer, including supervisory positions. He has also has experience working in a rural hospital emergency department. Chad also has experience in 911 and emergency management having spent 10 years as a dispatcher, 911 Communications Director and Emergency Management Director for Lincoln County South Dakota. Many of those years also included teaching venues and for the last 4 years has been teaching full time in the EMS profession across the State of South Dakota. Chad is the current Training Officer for District II, the President of the SDEMTA Instructor/Coordinator Society, and has been active in the SDEMTA for many years. Chad still resides in his hometown of Canton, South Dakota.
Chuck WilleyChuck Willey has been involved in EMS for over 19 years. Chuck is a National Registry EMT-I 85 and director of EMS for Gettysburg Ambulance Service and is the only Advanced level EMT at this time for their service. Chuck earned his instructor coordinator certificate in 2003 and has taught the EMT Basic class in 2004 and 2006. He is also a CPR instructor for 16 years. With many classes taught, Chuck uses an experienced approach to teach and is very diverse in his presentations.
Dr. Pamela A. SchmagelDr. Pamela A. Schmagel, MD received her Medical degree from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine. She did her Obstetrics and Gynecology Internship at William Beaumont Army Medical Center with her residency in the same location. Besides working at Beaumont Army Medical Center, she also worked at Ft Carson Evans Army Medical Center and Colorado Springs Health Partners before coming to practice in Rapid City at Rushmore Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is licensed in Colorado and South Dakota. Dr Schmagel is a member of several professional organizations, has published several articles, and has received honors and awards within her field. Dr Schmagel served Active Duty with the Medical Service Corp from 1993 to 2001.
Dustin WillettDUSTIN WILLETT works for the Rapid City Dept. of Fire & Emergency Services. He is currently assigned as a Fire Fighter, a Critical Care Paramedic, and a Paramedic Field Training Officer. He is also a Hazardous Materials Specialist with the Rapid City Regional Response Team and is the President of the Rapid City/Pennington County Dive Rescue Team. Dustin enjoys teaching and can frequently be found lecturing at classes and conferences throughout the Black Hills Region. He lives with his wife and son in Rapid City.
Keith RaymondKeith Raymond Firefighter, NREMT-Paramedic (Rapid City Fire Department)
started working in EMS in 1993. He worked as an EMS supervisor for two smaller departments in Montana before taking a full time position with the Rapid City Fire Department in 1998.
